New MOT Tester Training Regulations

From April 2016, the DVSA introduced and brought into force the new MOT Tester Traning regulations. These regulations mean that each MOT garage must now be able to produce valid proof that all testers that perfrom MOT tests at that location have undergone a minimum of 3 hours of training during the year.
On top of 3 hours MOT training per year, each MOT tester must also complete and pass an annual DVSA exam/assessment. To retain testing status, each MOT tester must be abe to provide proof that they have completed the minimum 3 hours of training and passed the annual assessment before April each year.
The DVSA training year runs from April-March and the topics of the curriculum will be posted in January prior to the new training year beginning.

Who provides the annual training and exam?

At present, there is only 1 company that offers both training and annual exam through an online software. MOT Juice has launched a complete online suite of software that offers annual training for all your MOT testers in small monthly bite-size modules covering 15 minutes each month.
The MOT Juice software allows you (the garage owner) to monitor each of your MOT testers and ensure that they are completing their training each month and to a satisfactory standard. It has a built in reporting feature so you can easily print out a report of all training across all your testers.
The system is free to use until April 2016, and if you sign up now you will receive 25% free training for each of your MOT testers.
Not only does the MOT Juice system offer annual MOT tester training, it also has a built in Quality Control check functionality so you can record each of your monthly QC checks. It also has an equipment calibration scheduler that helps you record and track your equipment calibrations and store all your documents online.
